We have always wanted a garden. The last few years we have just used planter boxes on our deck. We went the real deal this year! One of Darin's friends, Mr. Roe, who does a huge garden each year came out and helped him get started. They tilled the area and he gave him some pointers. Here are some pictures of the process from beginning to now. It has been great and we are planning on doing a bigger one next year with a lot more variety. This year we have produced summer squash, watermelon, cucumbers, tomatoes, broccoli and bell peppers.
The squash has been very plentiful!! It really took off! However, we had a nasty storm last weekend and it did a little damage to some of the plants. It really messed up the tomatoes - a lot of the stakes came loose and Darin had to fix them. The tomatoes haven't done as well as I thought. Oh well!! You learn a lot the first time around. We already can't wait until the next one! I want to do a pumpkin patch too.....
I will definitely be posting more - especially when we break open the watermelon! I can hardly wait!!!
I have been posting pics since the start of the garden on facebook.
