What is a BLOG?

For those of you that are new to the blogging world or wondering what is all this blog nonsense (kind of with the same expression as Keira here) - according to Wikipedia:

"A blog (a contraction of the term "Web log") is a Web site, usually maintained by an individual[citation needed], with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog."

So there you have it! :)

Back to blogging!

This was Saturday morning around 9am. She had to have this dress on - and of course the sparkly, glittery shoes that she has worn since she got them. She enjoys sweeping and looks oh so serious about finding a good spot to start! hehe

Later that evening........after we got home from dinner and the bookstore she wanted to play outside for a bit. We now all know why they call these things slicky slides!!!!! Killer action shot! :)

River Rats!!

We took the dogs for a swim this weekend. Keira had a ball in the mud. Kona had fun retrieving logs. Then, Darin found an old basketball and threw it out and of course Kona was after it......well it kept going farther and farther out as she kept trying to get a hold of it and she ended up halfway out in the river. I was freaking out! We were yelling and she would not quit trying to get it. I could tell she was getting tired. So Darin grabbed a life vest and dove in to try and get her back! Of course, she gave up on the ball and came swimming toward Darin. She is nuts! She did that once before a couple years ago with a big tree stump. That is a true lab for ya! I think she has that compulsive fetching disorder! She is obsessed with fetching logs, rocks, sticks, balls - you name it! We still love her though. Marley stayed on the bank as she is not as much the swimmer. Smart dog! :)

The Ball!

(The video I took of the ball chase did not turn out very good as I was starting to panic!! hehe)

Garden 2008

We have always wanted a garden. The last few years we have just used planter boxes on our deck. We went the real deal this year! One of Darin's friends, Mr. Roe, who does a huge garden each year came out and helped him get started. They tilled the area and he gave him some pointers. Here are some pictures of the process from beginning to now. It has been great and we are planning on doing a bigger one next year with a lot more variety. This year we have produced summer squash, watermelon, cucumbers, tomatoes, broccoli and bell peppers.

The squash has been very plentiful!! It really took off! However, we had a nasty storm last weekend and it did a little damage to some of the plants. It really messed up the tomatoes - a lot of the stakes came loose and Darin had to fix them. The tomatoes haven't done as well as I thought. Oh well!! You learn a lot the first time around. We already can't wait until the next one! I want to do a pumpkin patch too.....

I will definitely be posting more - especially when we break open the watermelon! I can hardly wait!!!

I have been posting pics since the start of the garden on facebook.

Welcome to my BLOG!!!!

Hello! I started a blog for my daughter Keira a few months after she was born and thought it would be a breeze keeping it updated for my family and friends to visit and share pictures, stories, etc.

Unfortunately, she is now 19 months old and I didn't keep up w/the blogging. I am going to be updating this with a lot of Keira, but also anything I feel like sharing.

We have had a good summer so far! She is growing up so quick it is unbelievable! She is really starting to talk and has a bad temper! She loves bugs. She loves animals. She loves shoes. She loves the word NO. She is the love of our lives!!

Please visit often and join in on her crazy antics!!!!
