Snowshoe Mountain WV

We went to Snowshoe this past weekend for some riding.  Jen (Shorty), my old college roommate and her man were up there from Charleston, SC.  We had a great time!  Nothing really changes.  15 years we've been friends.  WOW!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day!  Keira had her party @ daycare yesterday and got a bunch of valentines.  Here she is eating nerds and telling me who they are!

Wind Storm 2/11/09

WOW!  A bad wind storm rolled through here Wednesday evening.  It hit our house while I was driving home from work.  Darin called and told me to wait beacuse it had been pretty bad and was coming the way I was going.  But I had already left.  It wasn't too bad.  I drove through some rain squalls and it was windy but nothing too crazy.  When I got home a huge tree had fallen across the road from our house.  I took some pictures this evening.

Darin built a building on the side of the garage last year.  The wind blew some of the cinder block out!!

First Haircut!

Keira has not had her haircut. EVER! We were going to take her to a salon but she fell asleep on the way and had been sick so we didn't want her to have one of her tantrums and decided to let Daddy try it! He did a good job! Keira loved telling everyone @ daycare last week about it. "Daddy cut my hair" (her translation is more like herrr) and "Daddy cut my bangs." It was too cute! Now she wants it cut all the time! hehe!

Old Blue.

Darin's 1963 Ford truck.  Old Blue doesn't go well in the snow.  It was grounded during the storm and after.  On Super Bowl Sunday Darin decided to go start it up and get it out of the driveway and it slid and went into the side yard which now consisted of a lot of mud, snow and ice!  

He finally got it out Monday evening!  The yard is really tore up!  Ready for the garden!  hehe!

Super Bowl 43!!!

Well the STEELERS delivered and what a GREAT Super Bowl!! I did get a little nervous but I had faith they would pull it out. How sweet was that catch? I have been in my glory all week!!  We had a few people over and ate a bunch of food and had a few beers.  It was fun!

Make A Fire!

I used my new flip video recorder this morning!  It is so cool!  I need to remember to have it close by @ all times.  Keira is starting to really say a lot more things and really talk more clearly.  It is so much fun!!

We have no ideo what she does @ the end of this one....some kind of song or voodoo!!! haha!

Keira has been enjoying her Land of Nod chair a lot lately!!  She likes to sit in it and watch tv or play with her dolls.  She has now started napping in it as well.

Snow Days!

It started snowing Sunday and we got hit with a major winter storm.  We decided to take Keira out to play.  It took us almost half an hour to get outside since Keira wanted to wear dress shoes and no socks.  We got the snow boats on her and she threw a fit and kicked them off.  So - we finally got socks on her (had to be pink) and her nike shox and we were off!

She ate some.  She also had a blast running....I was holding my breath waiting for her to bite it!!  No injuries though!  :)

When I woke up Monday morning there was even more!

I got off the hill okay Monday but it snowed EVEN more....Darin had to take me Tuesday morning to work and Keira to Granny's - she got sick Monday..fever..slight rash... this picture is I-64 - it was a mess!!!  I don't think I have ever seen it this bad since I've lived here!

I left work early because an ice storm was supposed to hit.  We decided to leave Keira @ Granny's because daycare called and were already closing for Wednesday.  Darin and I went to bed @ 9pm!!  haha!  And man did it ice all night - we could hear it hitting outside and trees crashing down in the woods that sounded like gunshots!  I knew it was going to be sketchy trying to get to work.  Darin tried to get down the road one time and is was way too icy.  2nd attempt he got out of our road but there was a 5 car pileup blocking one way down and a huge tree down blocking the only other way out.  UGH!

3rd time a go!  We finally made it down the hill - in the meantime - Granny calls and said Keira's face now had the rash and looked swollen.  So instead of Darin taking me to work we headed to pick Keira up and I had already called the Doctor and got her in.  Well - after seeing the Doc - she has strep throat!  Poor thing!  She is really not acting like her throat hurts @ all but a little mopey and wanting to be held.  We picked her prescription up and headed home!  She is laying w/Daddy right now watching Meet the Robinsons!

Bad Kona!

How cute is she?  100% lab.  And everyone knows what labs are prone to do.  CHEW.  DESTRUCT.  

Kona.  Where do I begin?  She has always been a chewer, destructor if you will.  We always told ourselves, it is the puppy stages.....well, almost 5 years later and she is worse than ever.  I think a lot of it is jealousy.  It happens a lot when I get home from work and give most of my attention to Keira.  I don't think Kona likes that....She goes and finds something of Keira's to chew up.  She is nuts!  I feel bad for Keira - she loves her to death even though she eats all of her stuff!

As you can see, dolls are her specialty!  Most dolls are missing one foot and one arm.  Keira still likes to play with them and won't let me throw them away. (is that normal?)  She is sure to point out that Kona ate the missing body part!

I even caught her in the act while taking the doll picture!!

I can't believe this is already the last week of January 2009.  Time flies.  I can't hardly wait for February 1st!!!!

HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!!!

I am having some people over for Super Bowl Sunday, if anyone has some good game day recipes you would like to share, please let me know!  

Yes We Did!

What an amazing week!  First off, the STEELERS won the AFC Championship on Sunday and are headed to the Super Bowl in Tampa!!  It was an awesome game and I am so excited for next Sunday!!  Yes We Did.  Tuesday, January 20th, 2009 was the Inauguration of Barack Obama!  I streamed it live over my computer @ work and it was just AWESOME!  It was amazing to see all  of those people in one place, for one reason.  I know I should have tried to go.  I will regret it.  I am glad I was able to witness it live.....his speech once again, I think was stellar.  I am looking forward to the changes ahead!  

I woke up Thursday morning as I normally do and fire up the laptop and check the news, blogs, etc.  I noticed where my friend Sarah had updated her blog.  I went to school w/Sarah and we were roommates in college.  We grew apart.  The last few years we reconnected through email and facebook.  She has a son named Caleb.  Caleb was born with major medical issues.  They have been in and out of hospitals for the last 2 1/2 years.  He got a transplant last year @ Duke because he was born w/out an immune system.  Wednesday night they got a call from their doctor that the latest test they did - he responded to!  Which is GREAT news!  I would really like anyone that reads this to please check out their blog, Caleb Paul Hlebiczki, and read about the amazing journey of this little boy and his family!!

So I have had one GOOD week!  Let's hope it continues...

Keira's Big Girl Room!

We finally got her room put together. She seems to like it. The vanity is her favorite area! And of course the shoe basket! I think she will be ready for a bigger bed anytime now. Sometimes she gets up several times and tries to put off going to bed...for example she comes to the door and wants juice....I get her juice. 2 minutes later she's back....I pooped...off to the bathroom we go....she didn't poop nor did she have to go to the bathroom....she is just delaying the inevitable.....tuck her back in.....yada.yada.yada.

So - Other than that it is going great! haha!

I am a huge Steelers fan!  I have been going to Steeler games for a long time.  Unfortunately, I have not been to a game since August 2006 when I was pregnant w/Keira.  Hopefully she can experience her first game next year!  Here are some pics from Steeler games of the past.

Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go!!!!

I whipped up some goodies for the game!  I made a recipe from my friend Lee called "southern caviar."  Kind of like a black bean salsa.  Eat w/tortillas.  It was really yummy!  I also made some wings!  You can't watch football without wings!  I got the recipe from one of my fave websites - Confessions of a Pioneer Woman.  You must bookmark that!  She Rocks!

Happy New Year!!

We spent New Year's @ a friend's house. We had a blast! The kids played Wii and ran around and we just hung out and listened to music. It was a great night!!
